Kenya’s displaced ordered to return home - 10 May 08

Almost five months after Kenya’s elections threatened to tear teh country apart, the government is trying to resettle villagers uprooted from their homes.
 
But many fear further attacks if they go back, because of simmering tribal and ethnic tensions, while others say they have nothing to return to.

In Kenya, there are signs of a possible breakthrought in the political deadlock that’s fuelled violent clashes between rival supporters.

However, young Kenyans left orphaned by the recent violence have been telling Al Jazeera about their horror at seeing their families massacred.

And in nearby Naivasha, gangs armed with machetes have been attacking rival tribe members.Former UN Chief Kofi Annan’s still trying to broker a deal between the country’s rival leaders, but as Mohammed Adow explains, he’s not having much success.
