Israel keeps up Palestinian evictions 04 Nov 09

The United Nations, the United States and the European Union have all called on Israel to stop the illegal eviction of Palestinians and the demolition of their homes.

Ban Ki-moon, the UN secretary-general, urged Israel to end its "provocative actions" in East Jerusalem, wihle calling for it to freeze all settlement activity in the occupied West Bank.

Despite that, the sight of Paelstinians in East Jerusalem being forced out of their homes has become an all too familiar scene.

Clashes ignite over al-Aqsa mosque – 25 Oct 09

Israeli forces have clashed with Palestinians at al-Haram al-Sharif, comprisign al-Aqsa mosque and the Dome of the Rock, in Jerusalem.

Several Palestinians were arrested and many were wounded in Sunday’s clashes.

Scant hope from US-Israeli-Palestinian talks – 22 Sep 09

Barack Obama, the US president, has made efforts to get the Middle East peace process back on track, hosting talks between Binyamin Netanyahu, the Israeli prime minister, adn Mahmoud Abbas, the Palestinian president in the US.

Netnayahu has rejected a complete, fixed-period freeze in construction of illegal settlements in the occupied West Bank, and Abbas has said talks are redundant while Israel continues its settlement activity.

Palestine’s haunting Nakba art installation – 15 May 08

Over the past few days, there have been many protests and events to mark the Nakba.

The memory of the flight of those Palestinian refugees has also been captured in a haunting art installation that will be displayed in Jeursalem.

It has taken almost a year to put together and is the work of a Scottish artist and thousands of young Palestinians.

It makes fro one of the most evocative commemorations of this collective tragedy.

Olmert faces fresh investigation over conduct – 04 May 2008

It’s a domestic problem that’s about as difficult as any international issue facing the Israeli prime minister and his shaky coalition goevrnment.

A fresh investigation has begun into Ehud Olmert’s conduct while serving as finance minister.

And it leaevs many wondering how long he will survive politically, much less to negotiate with Palestinians.
