Pro-Palestinian rally through London

Al Jazeera’s Mark Seddon reports on the Palestinian rally held in central London.

Thousands of people marched through the streets of London, to show their support for the Palestinian cause.

The demonstrators were calling for an end to the siege on Gaza, the right of return for Palestinians, and an end to Israeli occupation.

Protesters face Egyptian riot police - 07 April 2008

More than two hundred people have been arrested across Egypt after a day of protest over rising food prices and low wages.

The worst trouble was in the northern city of Mahalla, where thousands of people battled with riot police.

The violence there came late in the day, after it appeared a heavy security presence had succeeded in preventing any trouble. Paul Allen reports.

Israel "to remove" some West Bank checkpoints - 30 Mar 08

Israel has agreed to remove about 50 of its more than 500 checkpoints in the occupied West Bank - a move it says is designed to help the Palestinian economy.

The announcement came on what Palestinians call Land Day, an annual day of protest triggered by the deaths of six Arabs during a demonstration in 1976.
