Israel’s year-long blockade on Gaza has led to high unemployment and inflation rates in the territory.

Just before the start of the new school year, many families are scrambling to buy basic items such as uniforms and notebooks for their children.

But as Ashraf Amritti reports, they are luxuries many Palestinians simply cannot afford.

Fatah men flee violent clashes in Gaza - 3 Aug 08

More than 30 Fatah supporters who fled into Israel on Saturday night, have now been returned to Gaza and are under Hamas Security forces’ detention.

A prominent Fatah leader was among the more than 150 Palestinians who sought refuge to escape the most fierce fighting in the Gaza Strip since Hamas took control of the area over a year ago.

The clashes have left at least nine people dead and nearly 100 wounded.

West Bank court ruling brings victory - 29 July 2008

After a five year legal battle, Israel’s high court decided to move a stretch of its separation barrier in the West Bank.

Al Jazeera’s Jacky Rowland reports from the town of Jeyyus where the court’s ruling is a small victory for Palestinian residents cut off from their own land.
