Confusion over Livni warrant – 15 Dec 09

A court in the UK has issued – and then cancelled – an arrest warrant against Israeli opposition leader Tzipi Livni.

According to the Guardian newspaper, the warrant was issued at the request of lawyers representing pro-Palestinian activists and sought Livni’s arrest on suspicion of war crimes related to last year’s War on Gaza.

Celebrating Eid al-Adha stops short for some Muslims – 27 Nov 09

As the Muslim pilgrimage of Hajj kicks off in Saudi Arabia, the rest of the world’s 1.5 billion Muslims are celebrating the annual Eid al-Adha holiday.

But in some parts of the world, celebrating has its limits.

The effects of previous wras and devastation caused by natural disasters have given the people of these struggling countries less reason to rejoice because of their hardships.

Palestinian president will not seek re-election – 06 Nov 09

The Palestinian president has announced he will not be seeking re-election.

Mahmoud Abbas said enough was enough after years of frustration fighting for an independent homeland.

Abbas said he was surprised by Washingotn’s "favouring of the Israeli psoition&quto; regarding the issue of illegal Israeli settlements and that a solution had to be found.

He also said that the "sum of my experience" is that a two-state solution for Palestine and Israel is still possible.

Palestinian negotiator warns Israel – 05 Nov 09

Palestinian chief negotiator Saeb Erekat warned Israel in that continued illegal settlement expansion in the occupied Palestinian territories mya mean a two-state solution is no longer an option.

The issue of settlements has beocme particularly heated since US secretary of staet Hillary Clinton praised Israel for making what she called "unprecedented" concessions on the issue, even though Binyamin Netanyahu the prime minister, brushed off US and Palestinian demands for a construction freeze.

Clinton has since been trying to raessure Arab leaders.

Debate on Gaza war report continues – 04 Nov 09

A day after the US House of Representatives rejected the Goldstone report as "irredeemably biased", the UN General Assembly has begun debating an Arab-sponsored, non-binding resolution on the same report urging Israel and the Palestiniasn to independently investigate the report’s findings. Al Jazeera’s Rosiland Jordan reports.
