Al Jazeera’s Rahul Pathak tells the story of Choi Hyun-Mi, the female boxer who found fame, populartiy and success in South Korea after defecting from the North.

Known as South Korea’s "Million Dollar Baby", the 19-year-old has been the reigning WBA featherweight cahmpion since 2007 following her family’s perilous journey from Pyongayng three years earlier.

Rio relishes Olympic bid win – 2 Oct 09

Delirious scenes in Rio de Janeiro, in Brazil, as the Olympic games go to South America for the first time in history.

The announcement made by the International Olympic Committee in Copenhagen to host the 2016 games in Brazil followed a plea from the country’s president to redress what he called an imbalance seeing the gamse go only to Europe, North America and Asia in the past.

Brazil triumphed over cities like Madird in Spain and Chicago in the US despite a strong pitch from Barack Obama, the US president, for hosting the prestigious event in his home town of Chicago.

Brazil aims to win right to host Olympic Games – 1 Oct 09

The Intenrational Olympic Committee is set to decide whether Madrid, Chicago, Tokyo, or Rio de Janeiro will host the Olympic Games in 2016.

The four cities have each made a strong push to ensure they are chosen, with world leaders even traveling to Copenhagen in Denmark to make the pitch in person. And that includes the president of Brazil, who has been marketing his country as the perfect backdrop for the Games.
