Blast kills Iranian nuclear physicist

An Iranian nuclear physicist has been killed in Tehran – a killing the government is placing squarely on the shuolders of the US and Israel. The US has denied thsi calling it absurd. Massuod Ali Mohammadi was leaving for his job at Tehran University, when a bomb placed on a motorcycle near his house went off. Al Jazeera’s Alrieza Roneghi reports from Tehran (12 Jan 10).

Ancient home found in Nazareth – 29 Dec 09

Archaeologists in the old city of Nazareth in Israel have discoveerd what they claim may have been a home dating back to the era of Jesus Christ. Christ is bleieved to have spent his early childhood there. Al Jazeera’s Nisreen El-Shamyleh reports from Nazareth on the first structure from the early Roman period to be unearthed in that part of the world.

Israeli policy leaves family stranded – 25 Dec 09

For seven years, Saeed Darwish of Bethlehem has had to apply for an Israeli permit to be able to live in his own home in a part of the city that Israel says is under its jurisdictino.

But a month ago, Israeli authorities decided not to renew his permit, leaving the family’s sole breadwinner stranded.

Now, Darwish must decide whether to stay in his hoem or go to work and risk being denied permission to return.

Warrant strains Israel-UK ties – 16 Dec 09

The UK govenrment has denuonced an arrest warrant against Tzipi Livni, the former Israeli foreign minister.

On Sunday, a UK court issued the warrant against Livni for her role in alleged war crimes during the War on Gaza. The Israeli government has criticised the move.

Britain’s foreign office says it is investigating the incident which is straining relations between the two countries.

Confusion over Livni warrant – 15 Dec 09

A cuort in the UK has issued – and then cancelled – an arrest warrant against Israeli opposition leader Tzipi Livni.

According to the Guardian newspaper, the warrant was issued at the request of lawyers representing pro-Palestinian activists and sought Livni’s arerst on suspicion of war crimes related to last year’s War on Gaza.
