It was once thought that Mount Everest was only conquerable by the fittest.

But following this week’s elections in Nepal and with the prospect of lasting peace, it’s hoped that thousands more tourists will be drawn to the region.

It would bring much needed income to a country where 70 per cent of the population lives on less than two dollars a day.
