Indian illegal organ trafficking - 01 Feb 08

Police in India say the alleged leader of an organ trafficking network may now have fled the country. Dr Ahmed Kumar is on the run after a raid on a private hospital in Delhi where he is thought to have performed hundreds of illegal organ transplants. Many of his alleged victims were poor immigrant labourers whose organs were sold to wealthy patients. Al Jazeera’s Matt McClure reports from the Indian capital.

India and China seek to boost relations - 13 Jan 08

The leaders of India and China are meeting in Beijing over the next three days in an effort to boost friendlier relations.It’s Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh’s first visit to China, which will discuss strengthening economic ties, as well border disputes in the Himalayan region.On his arrival, Prime Minister Singh said both countries and the world stood to gain from the growth of India and China. But Matt Mcclure reports not everyone is welcoming closer relations.
