Argentina chokes under a blanket of smoke - 19 April 08

Pollution is at crisis levels in Argentina, where a thick blanket of smoke is choking the capital Buenos Aires and its 12 million residents.

Nine people have been killed and major highways and airports have been closed.

As the smoke is fanned by strong winds, it is now heading for Uruguay.
