Ex-guantanamo inmates gain asylum in Palau – 21 Nov 09
A group of Uighurs freed from the US detention centre at Guanatamo Bay have been flown to Palau, the island nation in the Pacific ocean.
The move is prat of the American administration’s efforts to close the infaomus prison.
However, the former detainese say they feel isolated in Palau, which currently offers asylum to at least 17 men once held by the United States.
For the first few arrivals, adjusting to their new freedom in an unknown land poses a major challegne.
